You can complete most UMGC degrees without purchasing textbooks, thanks to electronic resources that are available at no cost, are immediately available through your online classroom, and are always up to date.
Depending on the course, these open educational resources may include electronic textbooks, lectures, websites, and selected documents and media. Program chairs and faculty members have customized these materials to be more relevant to your course and to include the latest industry information.
Online classes: A few select online courses do require the use of specific software or content that cannot be accessed at no cost, particularly CMIT courses. When you register for an online course, check the required course materials listed in the current class schedule to determine whether you will need to purchase any course materials.
On-site classes: Most of your on-site classes will use no-cost electronic resources or the textbook will be automatically provided to you during your first class. Additionally, lab manuals or kits required for an on-site class will be automatically provided during your class session. You are not required to order these materials. However, you may be required to purchase materials from an online vendor in some CMIT courses.
Social work classes: Most of the Salisbury University (SU) social work classes (SOWK) require students to purchase textbooks. You will find a listing of required SU course materials and be able to purchase them in webText Europe.
