This course explores the remarkable city of Naples, Italy. Nestled amidst the captivating layers of diverse dynasties, including Greek, Roman, Norman, French, and more, Naples boasts a vibrant and unique culture unlike any other. Through immersive all-day field trips, you will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the unparalleled charm of this fascinating city, considered the epitome of cool in Italy, and delve into 2500 years of history condensed within its boundaries. Over the centuries, Naples has played a significant role, attracting renowned artists like Dickens, Byron, Goethe, Pablo Neruda, Hemingway, and Andy Warhol. Throughout this course, we will focus on three pivotal periods in Naples' history: the Greco-Roman period, the Bourbon era, and the post-WWII Naples.
May apply toward upper-level credit for history, humanities general education requirement, Italian studies, or electives.

You will gain access to the online LEO classroom approximately 1 week prior to the start of the course. The official course start date is 5 September and ends on 3 October 2023. On-site in Naples 22-25 September. Once you gain access to the classroom, take a virtual walk-through of the course and begin reading assignments.

The $175 fee does not include travel to and from the city where the course is held. You must make your own travel arrangements for the course. The fee also does not include meals.
