The D-Day landings and the campaign in Normandy which followed have taken on an almost mythic status in the history of World War II. Viewed as the great turning point of this global conflict, the campaign can be seen as a vital signpost event in European, American, and military history. You will study the battle strategies, maps of the area, and slides illustrating the equipment of the period, all while visiting the battlefields, beaches, museums, and memorials dedicated to this campaign.

Topics include:

  • An in-depth discussion and readings pertaining to the D-Day Invasion and Normandy Campaign
  • Site visits to include Utah Beach, Sainte-Mère Battery, Point du Hoc, Omaha Beach Cemetery, Église-Maisy-Mer, Longues (Gold Beach)
