Journey through the Medieval and early modern periods and explore the struggle between state and church culminating with King Henry VIII. From the Roman walls and medieval Guildhalls to the economic and cultural powerhouse of today, follow the rise of the British Empire and the achievements of the city during the reign of Elizabeth I.

Topics include:

  • Anglo-Saxon London and the Norman Conquest
  • London in the High Middle Ages
  • The Early Tudors and the Reformations
  • Rise of corporate London under the Guilds and Lord Mayor
